Educating, Inspiring and Raising Awareness on Conscious Food Choices
We believe in the centrality of education in protecting biodiversity and promoting the Slow Food Philosophy of good, clean and fair food for all. Through Food and Taste education (at school gardens, guided tastings, farm visits, knowledge exchange between generations, practical workshops, meals with producers and events), we are reawakening our senses and understanding where our food comes from, how it is produced, by whom and the consequences of our food choices. Adults and children learn to appreciate the cultural and social importance of food. We look at food from a holistic perspective, which includes culture and conviviality.
Food and Taste Education activities continue to play a critical role in creating awareness on the difference between high quality products and standardized alternatives. The fundamental right to the pleasure of good, clean and fair food should go hand in hand with the responsibility to protect the knowledge, cultural and biological heritage that make this pleasure possible.
