Slow Food Kenya recently participated in the Participatory Ecological Land Use Management (PELUM) Kenya networking symposium, centered on the theme “Agroecology for Climate-Resilient Communities.” Held at the Maasai Market in Nakuru, this event brought together passionate individuals and organizations committed to promoting agroecological practices.
At the symposium, Slow Food Kenya made a significant impact. Our booth showcased various innovations and technologies crucial for amplifying agroecology. We emphasized the importance of preserving local, diverse seeds through seed-saving practices, contributing to biodiversity and resilience in our food systems. Additionally, our dedicated farmers shared their experiences and success stories, inspiring others to adopt agroecology.
We’re thrilled to announce that Slow Food Kenya received the award for the best agroecological exhibitor. This recognition underscores our commitment to promoting resilient, climate-friendly food systems. We extend heartfelt appreciation to PELUM Kenya for organizing this remarkable event.
Our success wouldn’t have been possible without the support of various stakeholders. Special thanks go to Nakuru City Management, the Ministry of Trade, and the Culture department for their contributions. To our hardworking farmers who tirelessly demonstrate that agroecology can indeed nourish the growing world population, we say a big thank you. Together, we continue to sow the seeds of change, cultivating a future where sustainable practices thrive.
