Restoration starts right here in the nursery. This is where hope is nurtured, seed by seed, before it grows into strong trees that heal our landscapes and support communities.
In the heart of Mariashoni, a thriving tree nursery is quietly shaping the future of the Mau ecosystem. Here, 50,000 seedlings are being raised under the TerraFund project, each one destined to transform degraded land into vibrant forests and farms. These trees will soon find homes with 380 smallholder farmers and 2 schools, restoring 100 hectares of degraded land through agroforestry and ecological restoration.
But this nursery is more than rows of seedlings. It is a place of care, patience, and dedication. We are deeply grateful to the team who bend their backs and give their hands to nature, carefully tending these seedlings with love. Their quiet labor is the unseen foundation of every cool shade, every bird returning, and every thriving ecosystem we celebrate.
As we water, weed, and nurture these young trees, we are also growing resilience, livelihoods, and hope. Together, we are weaving back the green fabric of the Mau , one seedling, one farmer, one community at a time.
