This April, join the global youth-led food revolution as Slow Food Youth Network Kenya (SFYN Kenya) brings the world to your plate for World Disco Soup Day 2025, a day dedicated to tackling food waste with music, community, and a giant pot of delicious, rescued food.
What Is World Disco Soup Day?
What began as a protest movement in Berlin transforming “ugly” produce into tasty meals has grown into a global call to action. World Disco Soup Day is now celebrated worldwide every last Saturday of April to raise awareness on food waste and promote sustainable food systems.
In Nairobi, this unique event fuses activism with fun. Think DJ beats, chopped veggies, community cooking, and bold conversations about saving food and the planet.
🌳 What’s Happening at Mwiko Gardens?
Join us at Mwiko Gardens in Westlands, where the air will be filled with the smell of fresh food, the sound of good music, and the buzz of purpose. Here’s what you can expect:
🍲 Community Cooking:
A giant soup made from vegetables and produce that would otherwise go to waste proving that imperfect doesn’t mean inedible.
🎶 Live Music & DJ Sets:
Because nothing pairs with sustainable cooking like good vibes and beats!
🧑🏽🏫 Workshops & Demos:
Learn how to upcycle food scraps, adopt zero-waste kitchen habits, and become a more conscious consumer.
