Climate Justice and Inclusion of Indigenous Communities

Slow Food Kenya stands with indigenous peoples and marginalized groups in defending their
food cultures, protecting ecosystems, and adapting to climate change. Through reforestation,
community dialogues, and inclusion initiatives, we promote resilience, equity, and justice in the
food system.

Slow Food Kenya’s goal is to promote climate Justice and participation of indigenous communities in agroecology and biodiversity conservation.

SFK collaborates with like-minded actors in undertaking climate action initiatives.

Interventions:

  1. Recruiting and empowering indigenous communities to participate in Agroecology and Biodiversity conservation
  2. Capacity Building on agroecology Organization of exchange visits: Enhancing Recognition of the indigenous communities and their contribution to Agroecology and Biodiversity Conservation
  3. Identification and Promotion of Indigenous Communities Identification of good practices/success stories and spreading them
  4. Increase participation of indigenous communities in events e.g., community food experience, world Arts Day, Utamaduni day
  5. Influencing/championing for inclusion of indigenous communities in leadership and decision making
  6. Organize training and mentorship programs on leadership and food activism
  7. Restoration: Establishment of community tree nurseries Participate in tree planting and growing
